What is Style XP?
Style XP is not a skinning engine. It uses Microsoft's built-in visual style engine, but
enhances it by providing many useful tools. Style XP can import, select, rotate, and manage
themes, visual styles, wallpapers, logons, bootscreens, icons, and explorer bar. Future
versions may support sounds, cursors, screensavers, and packages of all the above. How does
it work? Instead of lines and gradients, the XP user interface natively supports the use of
skinned bitmap controls (a visual style). This is Microsoft's own innovation. Style XP
includes its own visual styles.
"Talisman Desktop" (Talisman) is a desktop alternative and shell-replacement for Windows
9x/ME and NT/2000/XP, capable of transforming your desktop into an interface organized as
you like. The program's basic purpose: Launch other applications in a new interface, instead
of the standard Windows desktop. But the opportunities presented by "Talisman" are much
broader. The program does not limit your computer fantasies - draw anything you like and
arrange it as your imagination tells you to. When you get tired of looking at the same
screen - change it all over again. If you are in a good mood - throw flowers and favorite
photos on the screen. If you're not feeling so bright - leave the black screen with lonely
Norton Commander or winking Bill Gates. Create invisible buttons - they will open those
places and the pictures, known only to you. Construct galleries of the best pictures and
photos. Simply create your own little world, created by and for you, instead of staring at
the same lines of icons on your desktop, year after year.
WindowBlinds is a program that that enables Windows users to completely change the look and
feel of the Windows user interface. Users customize Windows by using visual styles (skins)
created for WindowBlinds. With these skins, WindowBlinds can change the look of:
Title bars
borders
The Start bar
Progress animations
Explorer Views
and virtually every other part of Windows!
There are two docks included: ObjectDock © Stardock and RK Launcher © RaduKing. They are
both great programs and each has its own unique features and rendering engine, making the
experience different for each program. If you have never used either dock, I recommend using
each seperately for a while to see what you like best. To access the options for each dock,
right-click the divider on the left side of the trash can. To add/remove an item on the
dock, simply drag a program on or off the dock. More information on ObjectDock can be found
here, and RK Launcher here.

SearchSpy: © Spygamer is a program designed to emulate Spotlight in OS X. It works with the
index Google Desktop Search (GDS) creates, or if GDS is not installed it will create an
index using a program called Locate. If you are using ObjectBar and do not want the icon to
appear in the tray use the -noicon parameter when calling SearchSpy. More information on
SearchSpy can be found here.
